Mark joined his wife Sheela Hunt at Village Properties in 2012 after many years working behind the scenes on her $125,000,000+ in sales over the past decade in Montecito. Mark’s family history goes back to the early 1900s in Santa Barbara and Santa Ynez areas. Mark’s background in Real Estate comes from his grandparents, Bill and Elsie Hunt, who were agents and Brokers in Santa Barbara from around 1960 until about 1990. Mark grew up going to their open houses and learning about area history through his family ties to the Elveroj Museum in Solvang, the Wildling Museum in Solvang through his aunt, Patti Jacquemin, and his family’s involvement in the Santa Barbara Historical Society, which was co-founded by his ancestor, Edwin Gledhill (for whom the library at the Historical Society is named after).
Mark also has a background in television and film production and is a member of the Directors Guild of America. Mark directed, wrote, and produced children’s television as well as music programming and also managed computer visual effects for movies and television for many years. Mark’s passion for Real Estate stems from his love of art overall. Hunt says, “painting, photography, motion pictures, architecture, design, landscape, gardens, nature, etc. it all comes together in each and every home to complete the picture.”
Mark currently writes a regular, Real Estate related column for the Montecito Journal, focused on Montecito Best Buys, and has a website by the same name, www.MontecitoBestBuys.com. Through this site, Mark keeps followers up to speed on what he feels are the best-valued homes available and the most unique opportunities for sale at any given time in Montecito. The site and those properties profiled make up a majority of the homes that actually sell each month, supporting Mark’s picks as being those most likely to find a buyer in any given market. Having been in and out of Santa Barbara his entire life, Mark knows the various feels to the area, streets, neighborhoods, what makes an area special, and helps buyers find their nest or Real Estate investment.
It is with passion that Mark approaches any situation. From a new listing to a buyer looking for their dream home in the Santa Barbara area, Mark is determined to accomplish the goal using his expert knowledge and balanced, attentive approach to the Real Estate transaction process.
In his spare time, Mark enjoys family days and nights as well as local activities like surfing, skateboarding, hiking our wonderful trails system, and playing tennis and Bocce.
